Two weeks after conservative Tennessee voters turned the Volunteer State a deeper shade of red and some three years after I was told The Book of Mormon likely would never play the Tennessee Performing Arts Center because its plot is too outlandish, its book too profane, its tenor too irreverent, the second national touring company of the nine-time Tony Award-winning musical came to Nashville and gave audiences a much-needed jolt of electricity that elicited one of the longest, uninterrupted standing ovations I've ever witnessed in TPAC's Jackson Hall.

THE BOOK OF MORMON, winner of nine Tony Awards including Best Musical, has announced a lottery ticket policy for the national tour, which begins December 2 at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County and plays a limited 2 week engagement through December 14. In Miami, the production will conduct a pre-show lottery at the box office, making a limited number of tickets available at $25 apiece - cash only.

THE RIVER opened last night, Nov. 16, at Circle in the Square (50th Street between Broadway and Eighth Avenue). A new play by Jez Butterworth, The River stars Hugh Jackman, Laura Donnelly andCush Jumbo and is directed by Ian Rickson. Producers Tom Kirdahy, Roy Furman, and Ken Davenport announced today that Tony® Award winner Matthew Broderick has extended his contract with Broadway's smash hit It's Only A Play. Originally scheduled to appear in the production through its original closing date of January 4th, Broderick will continue to star in the production through its new end date on March 29, 2015. Broderick currently stars in the production opposite Nathan Lane, who exits on January 4th for a previously scheduled professional commitment. Beginning January 7th, Broderick will headline It's Only A Play opposite the previously-announced Martin Short.
