Two River Theater's current production of Henry V is being promoted with the tagline, "Kings are born, leaders are chosen." Beginning today, lawn signs endorsing "Henry V for King of France" are showing up across Red Bank and Monmouth County as part of a stealth marketing campaign. Please see the attached photo. Rattlestick Playwrights Theater Artistic Director David Van Asselt and Managing Director Brian Long have announced that the world premiere of Through the Yellow Hour, written and directed by Adam Rapp, will extend through Saturday, November 10, at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, 224 Waverly Place-off Seventh Avenue South, between Perry and West 11 Streets.

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of Adam Rapp's Through The Yellow Hour is that the playwright/director has intentionally written a piece that will never be performed with a completely age-appropriate cast – at least not legally in this country – since it includes a fully nude, sexually suggestive scene between a thirty-year-old character and another who is fourteen.  But because the person playing the youth is obviously of age, the scene is likely to leave audience members thinking of the older character as someone who has learned to trust and be caring again, rather than as someone committing statutory rape.

The Off Broadway Alliance, the organization of Off Broadway producers, theaters, general managers, press agents and marketing firms, presented the 2nd annual Off Broadway Alliance Awards Reception yesterday, June 19th at Sardi's. The awards honor outstanding achievement in Off Broadway theater for the 2011-2012 season. Honorees were on hand to receive their awards and Howard Kissel and Theodore Mann were posthumously inducted into the Off Broadway Hall of Fame.

Second Stage Theatre will continue the 10th anniversary of its Uptown Series with the world premiere of Warrior Class, written by Kenneth Lin and directed by Evan Cabnet. Warrior Class stars Louis Ozawa Changchien (The Bourne Legacy), Katharine Powell (The Farnsworth Invention) and David Rasche (Speed the Plough). Previews begin on July 11th and opening night is Monday, July 23rd.

Fadwa Faranesh, a bright, engaging Palestinian woman living in Bethlehem, hosts a cooking program from her home kitchen, where she prepares delectable dishes like tabouli and baba ghanoush in the traditional manner the women of her culture have been preparing them for centuries.  To her, food is an important connection between the past and the present.

New York Theatre Workshop world premiere production of Food and Fadwa, written by Lameece Issaq and Jacob Kader, and directed by Shana Gold, opens officially tonight, June 7 at NYTW. Food and Fadwa is a co-production with Noor Theatre, a company-in-residence at New York Theatre Workshop.

Nicola and Managing Director William Russo and Noor Theatre Artistic Director Lameece Isaaq, Executive Director Maha Chehlaoui, and Producing Director Nancy Vitale have announced that the world premiere of Food and Fadwa, written by Lameece Issaq and Jacob Kader, and directed by Shana Gold, begins performances tonight, Friday, May 18, 2012, at NYTW, 79 East 4 Street, between Bowery and Second Avenue. The opening night is scheduled for Thursday, June 7. Food and Fadwa is a co-production with Noor Theatre, a company-in-residence at New York Theatre Workshop.
