The national tour of the new musical THE ADDAMS FAMILY, based on the family of characters created by legendary cartoonist Charles Addams, will make its Hartford premiere through February 26, 2012 at The Bushnell's Mortensen Hall as part of the 2011-2012 Broadway Series sponsored by Travelers and Webster Bank.
Broadway composer Andrew Lippa ("The Addams Family," "The Wild Party") is among three master teachers leading the 2012 Johnny Mercer Foundation Songwriters Project at Northwestern University. Lippa will be joined by Tony Award-nominated composer and lyricist Craig Carnelia and three-time Grammy winning singer and songwriter Lari White to conduct the weeklong program for emerging songwriters.

A 1967 musical comedy with music and lyrics by Clark Gesner, the show is based on the characters created by cartoonist Charles M. Schulz in his comic strip Peanuts. THe 1999 revival featured new dialogue by Michael Mayer, who also directed, and additional songs and orchestration written by Andrew Lippa; choreography was by Jerry Mitchell. The cast featured Anthony Rapp, Kristin Chenoweth, and Roger Bart.
