Jazz pianist Aaron Diehl will join Music Director Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic for the 2016-17 season Opening Gala Concert, performing Gershwin's Concerto in F in his New York Philharmonic debut, Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at 7:30 p.m. The concert launches the New York Philharmonic's 175th anniversary season and Music Director Alan Gilbert's farewell season with a program honoring the Philharmonic's legacy of premiering important works, particularly music connected to New York City. As previously announced, the concert will also feature the New York Premiere of John Corigliano's Stomp for Orchestra and Dvo?ak's Symphony No. 9, From the New World.

Casting for the fifth and sixth weeks of American Ballet Theatre's 2016 Spring Season at the Metropolitan Opera House was announced today by Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie.

This summer, JACK presents the premiere of Toshiki Okada's Quiet, Comfort, commissioned by Hoi Polloi and directed by Alec Duffy, a duo of singer/performer Helga Davis and choreographer/dancer Ji?i Bartovanec (of the Sasha Waltz Dance Company), the premiere of the play The Animals, by Amina Henry, a new piece by choreographer Biba Bell, the second annual Brooklyn Experimental Song Carnival, curated by Valerie Kuehne, plus several concerts throughout the season.

Beginning in June 2016, The Negro Ensemble Company, Inc. (NEC) will deepen its commitment to discovery, development and presentation of superior theatre with four consecutive weekends of exciting and innovative productions showcasing up-and-coming Black playwrights. Seasoned arts administrative executive Rachel Y. DeGuzman joins Kyoung H. Park, founder and artistic director of Kyoung's Pacific Beat, to take the peacemaking theater company from an emerging to a more established and sustainable organization. She will serve as executive director of the Brooklyn based organization.

One of New York City's cultural treasures, the New York Theatre Ballet, presented Children's Dance on a Shoestring on May 6th and May 7th, 2016, at New York Theatre Ballet's intimate E. 10th street studio inside St. Mark's Church-in-the-Bowery. This was a delightful weekend of student dancers and their original choreography.

Opening the 10th Anniversary Season is a play from one of the company's favorite playwrights, Bruce Graham (The Outgoing Tide-2013; Mr. Hart & Mr. Brown-2014).  This piece, inspired by his parent's own love story, is a romantic comedy that proposes that a second chance at love is still possible, even for two people with a lot of miles on them.  You'll be laughing hysterically one minute, and grabbing your heart the next, in this gem of a play.
