Jackalope Theatre to Wrap 7th Season with LIVING NEWSPAPERS FESTIVAL This Month

Jackalope Theatre Company wraps up its 7th season with The 6th Annual Living Newspapers Festival. In homage to the 1930's Living Newspapers of the Federal Theatre Project, Jackalope has assembled an exciting group of Chicago playwrights, directors, and actors to dramatize stories ripped from recent newspaper headlines. Presented for a five-performance limited engagement at The Frontier, 1106 W. Thorndale Ave, the festival will run August 19-23, Wednesday - Sunday at 7:30pm.

Jackalope Theatre Company Announces Leadership Transition

Jackalope Theatre Company, the Edgewater-based theatre company currently in its 7th season, announced today new leadership and redefined roles within the company. Current artistic director and founding member AJ Ware will step down from her position, as the company enters a new phase of artistic and financial growth. AJ assumes the role of a company member, and remains integral towards Jackalope's future art-making. Jackalope founding member and director of the acclaimed Exit Strategy , Gus Menary, will succeed AJ Ware, as interim artistic director. Jackalope is currently conducting a search for a new permanent artistic director.

Jackalope Sets Full Cast for LUNACY!; Founding Company Member to Direct

Jackalope's 7th season concludes with Lunacy!, written by resident playwright Andrew Burden Swanson*, directed by founding company member Gus Menary*, with the full cast and production team announced below. The show runs May 11 - June 20, 2015 at Broadway Armory Park, 5917 N. Broadway. Tickets are available April 1 via jackalopetheatre.org. The press performance is Monday, May 18, 2015 at 7:30pm.

The company's 7th season features Crumble (Lay Me Down Justin Timberlake) by Sheila Callaghan, directed by Artistic AJ Ware, Four by Christopher Shinn, directed by Managing Director Nate Silver, and the world premiere of resident playwright Andrew Burden Swanson's Paper Moon directed by Founding Company Member Gus Menary. The season will conclude with The 6th Annual Living Newspapers Festival, Jackalope's festival of short plays inspired by current American newspaper articles.

Jackalope Theatre Company Extends THE PEACOCK Through 12/14

Jackalope Theatre Company, the Edgewater-based group which cultivates theatre that manifests the adventure deeply rooted in the American mythos, announces the first production in its sixth season. Jackalope's season begins with the world premiere of THE PEACOCK,written by Calamity West and directed Marti Lyons. It will play November 7 - December 8 at City Lit Theater, 1020 W. Jackalope Theatre Co. to Present LONG WAY GO DOWN at Theater on the Lake, 7/31-8/4

Jackalope Theatre Company, the Edgewater based group which cultivates theatre that manifests the adventure deeply rooted in the American mythos, has been invited to perform its acclaimed production of Long Way Go Down as part of Theater on the Lake's 61st season. Long Way Go Down, written by Zayd Dohrn and directed by Associate Artistic Director Kaiser Ahmed, will play July 31 - August 4 at Theater on the Lake, 2401 N. Lake Shore Drive in Chicago. The production features Jackalope Ensemble Members Pat Whalenand Danny Martinez, with Poloma Nozicka and Tim Miller. Tickets are $18 and available now by calling the box office at (312)742-7994.

JEFF Awards Non-Equity Nominations - Full List and Statistics - Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre Leads with 14 Nominations

The Jeff Awards today announced 124 nominations in 25 categories for Non-Equity Jeff Awards for productions that opened between April 1, 2011, and March 31, 2012. The Non-Equity Awards honor excellence in Chicago theatres not under a union contract. Jeff Awards judges covered opening nights of 154 productions offered by 71 Non-Equity producing organizations. The judges recommended 64 of those shows, making them eligible for Non-Equity Jeff Award nominations. Thirty-two theatre companies received nominations.
