THE BEAST IN THE JUNGLE Extends Until June

Vineyard Theatre's Artistic Directors, Douglas Aibel and Sarah Stern, announce that the world-premiere of THE BEAST IN THE JUNGLE will extend until Sunday, June 17. This original dance play by legendary composer and four-time Tony Award winner John Kander (CABARET, CHICAGO), Tony-nominated playwright David Thompson (STEEL PIER; FLORA, THE RED MENACE), and five-time Tony Award-winning director and choreographer Susan Stroman (THE PRODUCERS, CONTACT) will begin performances May 4, 2018 with an opening night set for May 23.

Parsons Dance Announces Programming For 2018 Gala Honoring Award-Winning Composer Stephen Schwartz

Parsons Dance - under the Artistic Direction of David Parsons - is excited to announce that its annual gala will take place on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, as part of the company's recently announced two-week return engagement to New York City's Joyce Theater. This year's gala, honoring legendary Broadway composer and multiple award-winner Stephen Schwartz, will feature two pieces specially created for the evening, in addition to the previously announced Joyce Theater programing.

BWW Review: YAGP Final Round and Gala Shone More Brightly Than Ever in 2018

The eagerly anticipated 2018 NYC Final Round and Gala of Youth America Grand Prix were the best I've seen in all my years of covering YAGP. On the evening of April 18th at the David H. Koch Theater in Lincoln Center, the technical prowess as well as the beyond-their-years artistry of the competitors in the Final Round gave credence to YAGP's slogan: “Ensuring the Future of Dance”.

The Kennedy Center Presents Ballet Nacional De Cuba This Summer

Internationally renowned Ballet Nacional de Cuba returns to the Opera House stage showcasing their extraordinary talent in two ballets, May 29-June 3. Artistic Director Alicia Alonso's definitive staging of the romantic classic Giselle anchors the engagement, May 31-June 3, and its acclaimed version of Don Quixote is performed May 29-30. The performances mark the 40th Anniversary of the company's landmark U.S. debut at the Kennedy Center. All performances will be accompanied by the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra.

PBS To Debut THE CHINESE EXCLUSION ACT from Emmy Winning Directors Ric Burns & Li-Burns

On May 6th, 1882 – on the eve of the greatest wave of immigration in American history – President Chester A. Arthur signed into law a unique piece of federal legislation.  Called the Chinese Exclusion Act, it singled out by name and race a single nationality for special treatment: making it illegal for Chinese laborers to enter America on pain of imprisonment and for Chinese nationals ever to become citizens of the United States.

Northrop Announces 2018-19 Dance Season

Northrop announces its 2018-19 Dance Season featuring 10 remarkable dance companies, including the return of audience favorites American Ballet Theatre, The Joffrey Ballet, and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre. The season's three ballet presentations will all feature live music, including a special partnership with The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. A special copresentation with Walker Art Center presents an ice-dancing group for the season finale.

The ABT JKO School To Perform At NYU Skirball Center

The American Ballet Theatre Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School will appear at NYU Skirball Center in New York City, April 25 - 26, 2018. The ABT JKO School will give two performances, Wednesday, April 25 and Thursday, April 26 at 7 : 00 P.M. Students of the ABT JKO School's Pre - Professional Division will perform excerpts from August Bournonville's La Sylphide and original choreography from ABT JKO School faculty members Harriet Clark, Fabrice Herrault and Mikhail Ilyin. The programs will also feature appearances by the ABT Studio Company and students from Levels 2 and 3 of the ABT JKO School Children's Division.

Imagine Ballet Theatre Announces Spring Repertory Program

Imagine Ballet Theatre, an Ogden-based ballet company, is bringing spring to the stage of Peery's Egyptian Theatre, with their whimsical  production of Fairyopolis, Mad Rush, Bartok Dances and a special  performance by PALS on April 27and 28, 2018. Choreography by Artistic Director Raymond Van Mason and the magical score composed by Felix Mendelssohn will have live accompaniment by Chamber Orchestra Ogden under the direction of Gabriel Gordon, The story is loosely based off the books How to find Flower Fairies by Cicely Mary Barker.
