Last night, September 28, Green Day frontman and the musical's composer/ co-author Billie Joe Armstrong made his Broadway debut as 'St. Jimmy' at the St. James Theatre in AMERICAN IDIOT. Armstrong will perform through Sunday, October 3, 2010. The producers of the critically acclaimed AMERICAN IDIOT announced today that Green Day frontman and the musical's composer/ co-author Billie Joe Armstrong will make his Broadway debut as "St. Jimmy" Tuesday, September 28 through Sunday, October 3, 2010 at the St. James Theatre, 246 West 44 Street. Immediately following this engagement, Mr. Armstrong will join Green Day in Caracas, Venezuela on October 8, 2010 to kick off their South American Tour. Original Broadway cast member and current "St. Jimmy," Tony Vincent, will resume performances on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 following a leave of absence due to a personal family matter. Vincent's understudies, Joshua Kobak and Andrew Call, will cover the role from Tuesday, October 5 - Sunday, October 10, 2010.

Fran Sancisco took the stage at the D-Lounge on Sunday, August 22. The duo, comprised of American Idiot cast members Brian Charles Johnson and Chase Peacock, performed their original pop/hip-hop music in their first headlining show. American Idiot cast mate Declan Bennett opened the show, which also featured additional American Idiot cast member Alysha Umphress. BroadwayWorld was on hand and brings you photo coverage below.

The best of Broadway was presented free on six consecutive Thursdays this summer with '106.7 Lite fm Presents Broadway in Bryant Park 2010' - a lunchtime series which began on Thursday, July 8th at 12:30pm on the Bryant Park Stage and ended yesterday, August 12. The series, which just completed its 10 season, was sponsored by Bank of America and JCPenney 33rd & 6th, and washosted by Lite fm's on-air personalities.

Alysha Umphress and cast members from AMERICAN IDIOT will visit Seth's Broadway Chatterbox tonight, August 12, at 6:00 PM. Off-Broadway, Umphress has appeared in Make Me a Song (the music of William Finn). She is a three-time MAC Award nominee for best female jazz vocalist and is making her Broadway debut in AMERICAN IDIOT.

Due to a family emergency Anika Noni Rose was unable to perform during the July 30th concert of Vassar's On a Clear Day You Can See Forever. Alysha Umphress instead stepped in and performed the role, and it is not yet announced whether Rose will be returning for the two August 1st performances.

Last night, July 25, the cast of American Idiot took the stage at Joe's Pub to benefit Broadway Impact and their continued efforts to fight for marriage equality. The monthly concert features cast members from various Broadway shows, highlighting the show's performers and the theatre community's commitment to equality. The first sold out show featured the cast of Next to Normal and on August 23rd the cast of Memphis will take the stage for the final installment. 100% of the proceeds go directly to Broadway Impact.
