Geva Theatre Center is gearing up for the What's Next: Festival of New Theatre (formerly known as Hibernatus Interruptus) which offers audiences the rare opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a play in progress as well as the chance to talk to the playwrights about their work. Over the eleven days, each of the plays in the festival will undergo an intensive workshop and will then be presented in script-in-hand performances.

South Coast Repertory has announced the lineup of actors and directors who will participate in the 12th annual Pacific Playwrights Festival (PPF). Since its creation in 1998, PPF has grown into one of the most important festivals of new scripts in the United States. At a black-tie Gala Benefit on Monday night at the Embassy of Italy, Signature Theatre feted Stephen Sondheim, the greatest living composer/lyricist of American musical theatre, with both music and a new award established in the composer's name. The theatre company, nationally known for its Sondheim productions, inaugurated the ?Sondheim Award' which will be presented annually to individuals for their career contributions in interpreting, supporting, and collaborating on Mr. Sondheim's musical works.
