Westport Country Playhouse Stages 'The Diary of Anne Frank,' Through October

Westport Country Playhouse will stage 'The Diary of Anne Frank,' a timeless and powerful classic, by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, adapted by Wendy Kesselman, and directed by Gerald Freedman (Broadway's 'The Robber Bridegroom,' 'The Grand Tour,' the revival of 'West Side Story,' co-directed with Jerome Robbins, the premiere of Arthur Miller's 'The Creation of the World and Other Business' and Shaw's 'Mrs. Warren's Profession') from October 2 through October 30.

Westport Country Playhouse Closes THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK 10/30

Westport Country Playhouse will stage the newly revised adaptation of the timeless classic, 'The Diary of Anne Frank,' helmed by award-winning director Gerald Freedman, September 28 through October 30, as part of its 80th Anniversary Season.

Rob Marshall to Direct THIN MAN Film?

The Thin Man is a 1934 American comic detective film starring William Powell and Myrna Loy as Nick and Nora Charles, a flirtatious married couple who banter wittily as they solve crimes with ease. Nick is a hard drinking retired detective and Nora a wealthy heiress. Their dog, the Wire-Haired Fox Terrier Asta, played by Skippy, was also a popular character. Completed in 1934 and nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture, the film was directed by W.S. Van Dyke from a script by Albert Hackett and Frances Goodrich; the screenplay was based on the mystery novel The Thin Man by Dashiell Hammett, supposedly based on his relationship with playwright Lillian Hellman. Also appearing in the film were Maureen O'Sullivan, Nat Pendleton, Minna Gombell, Cesar Romero and Porter Hall.

Francine Prose to Present Author Talk on Anne Frank at Westport Country Playhouse, Sept. 19

Critically acclaimed novelist Francine Prose, writer of the recently published Anne Frank: The Book, The Life, The Afterlife, will present an author talk and book signing, on Sunday, September 19, 3 p.m., at Westport Country Playhouse. Prose will speak about her book, followed by an interview with David Kennedy, Playhouse associate artistic director, and a Q&A with the audience.

Concurrent with the production of 'The Diary of Anne Frank,' Westport Country Playhouse is providing a glimpse behind the scenes on The Playhouse Blog, launched September 9.
