Mr. Adès calls it a 'video-ballet in seven movements' that follows the story of creation. The program will also include Mozart's Symphony No. 40, and Mahler's Kindertotenlieder, with baritone Thomas Hampson.

Due to the recent extreme weather conditions and travel disruptions, the New York Philharmonic has had to cancel two rehearsals for the program of Tuesday, December 28, Wednesday, December 29, and Thursday, December 30, 2010, at 7:30 p.m., to be conducted by Music Director Alan Gilbert. When Alan Gilbert, music director of the New York Philharmonic, mounts the podium at Bergen Performing Arts Center (BergenPAC) in Englewood on Wednesday, February 9 at 7:30 p.m., he will not be leading his acclaimed orchestra. Instead, Mr. Gilbert will lend his time and talent to provide a remarkable opportunity for the young musicians of the JCC Thurnauer School of Music. Mr. Gilbert will conduct the Thurnauer Symphony Orchestra for the School's 20th annual Gift of Music benefit gala, on the BergenPAC stage. Mr. Gilbert will be joined by New York Philharmonic concertmaster Glenn Dicterow, who will be guest soloist with the Orchestra. The Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival and the New York Philharmonic today announced a three-year extension of the Orchestra's annual Vail summer residency. This extension, which begins with the Festival's 25th anniversary season in the summer of 2012, will see the Philharmonic in Vail through 2014, for the orchestra's 12th summer residency.
