Maine State Music Theatre Finds Its Talent for Summer 2015
When the audience thinks of casting for a Broadway musical, they conjure up the image of a darkened auditorium, an artist onstage peering into the glare and hearing Zach's voice from out of the void with its curt dismissal, 'Thank you.' Since its smash opening on Broadway in 1975 A Chorus Line has come to embody in poetic terms the uphill struggles of countless artists who toil every day on stage and off in pursuit of the metier they love. The rituals of auditioning and casting calls are integral to the life of an actor or theatre director, and each year they are played out in countless theatres large and small across the country, a crucial part of the puzzle that goes into shaping a successful season.
Following a sell-out run at The Watermill Theatre in Newbury "CALAMITY JANE" has embarked on a national UK tour coming to the King's Theatre Glasgow from Tuesday 16 until Saturday 20 June 2015. "CALAMITY JANE" stars Jodie Prenger in the title role, Tom Lister as 'Wild Bill Hickok, Alex Hammond as 'Danny' and Phoebe Street as Katie Brown.
For its third production of the season, Maine State Music Theatre has staged a dazzling revival of the beloved 1954 classic, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. The company, under the direction of Patti Colombo, delivers a joyous, heartwarming, foot stomping, breathtaking extravaganza of brilliant dancing, convincing characterization, and first-rate production values.
'What I love that Patti [Colombo] is doing with this show is that she is not making it a sepia-toned romance,' declares Jarid Faubel, the actor who portrays Adam Pontipee in Maine State Music Theatre's new production of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, directed and choreographed by Patti Colombo, which opens its three-week run July 17th.
His co-star, Heidi Kettenring, concurs: 'Millie is one of the most challenging musical roles I have done of late. I am basing her character on a line early in the play where she says that she buried her parents on the Oregon Trail and finished the trek herself. She is feminine, but strong enough to have made that journey alone.'
The Watermill Theatre Newbury, Jamie Wilson, Paul Elliott and Duncan C Weldon are delighted to announce full casting and further touring dates for the forthcoming new production of the musical 'CALAMITY JANE', opening at The Watermill Theatre, Newbury on Thursday 17 July 2014 where it will play until Saturday 6 September 2014 prior to embarking on a national tour that opens at the Plymouth Theatre Royal on Thursday 16 September. Tour schedule attached. More dates to be announced.

Northern Light Theatre Company presents Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, March 28-April 12.Seven Brides for Seven Brothers is set on the American frontier where there were twenty men for every eligible woman (or so they tell us). Adam Pontipee comes to town to trade for supplies and hopefully, a wife! Millie is attracted to him and accepts his offer of marriage - but will she regret it?
Northern Light Theatre Company are giving an airing to that golden oldie, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, a show that has not been seen in Adelaide for a while.
The last time I saw Seven Brides for Seven Brothers was during the 2006 UK Productions tour which starred Dave Willetts and Shona Lindsay; a production that is close to my heart as it is one of the shows that made me want to pursue a career in theatre.
