HIGH SCHOOL DRAMA: Ravenwood's Emily Whitlow

Today, we celebrate the birthday of Emily Whitlow, a 17-year-old (or is she 18 today?) student at Ravenwood High School in neighboring Williamson County. A native of New York, Emily moved to Tennessee with her family at the age of 15 and since then she has appeared in several school productions, including her turn as Dolly Gallagher Levi in Hello, Dolly! during her sophomore year. In addition she's appeared in Circle Players' bare and Shrek the Musical and Promises, Promises at Boiler Room Theatre.

BEAUTIFUL to Hold National Open Casting Call in Chicago This Month

Broadway In Chicago has announced that producers Paul Blake and Sony/ATV Music Publishing will be holding a nationwide open casting call for the most sought-after role on Broadway, the title role in BEAUTIFUL-The Carole King Musical, about the early life and career of the legendary and groundbreaking singer/songwriter.

HIGH SCHOOL DRAMA: Hume Fogg's Ray Gleaves

Today, we introduce you to Hume-Fogg Academic High School senior Ray Gleaves, a 17-year-old senior who's been an integral member of Daron Bruce's theater productions, as well as a four year member of the school concert choir (he's serving as president this year), a three year member of The Blue Notes (the HFA show choir), as well as a three year member of both Resonance (the school's men's choir) and The HFA Singers, which is best described as a small specialty ensemble. Among the roles on his theatrical resume are Anxious in West Side Story, Seaweed J. Stubbs in Hairspray, Otto in Cabaret and Simon of Legree/male ensemble in The King and I.

HGTV's ELLEN'S DESIGN CHALLENGE Premieres to Nearly 4 Million Viewers

Ellen's Design Challenge was the #1 rated program on HGTV on Monday, January 26 at 9p, garnering a .72 rating among viewers P25-54 -- a 50% improvement versus the prior 13 week time period average. More than 3.9 million total viewers tuned in to the premiere of the furniture competition series. The strong performance cemented HGTV's position as a top 10 rated cable network on Monday night.

This week we introduce you to one of Paula Flautt's outstanding actors: Holly Hill, an 18-year-old senior at Christ Presbyterian Academy, who is busy doing her college auditions while preparing for what could well be the most challenging role any young actress could aspire to: Mary Poppins in CPA's April production of the Broadway musical. Breaking News: Chilina Kennedy Will Succeed Tony Winner Jessie Mueller in Broadway's BEAUTIFUL This Spring!

Producers Paul Blake and Sony/ATV Music Publishing announced today that Award-winning Canadian actress Chilina Kennedy, who made her Broadway debut as 'Mary Magdalene' in Jesus Christ Superstar, has nabbed the title role in Beautiful-The Carole King Musical, the smash hit musical about the early life and career of the legendary and groundbreaking singer/songwriter. Kennedy begins performances on March 7, 2015, succeeding Tony Award-winner Jessie Mueller, who will play her final performance in Beautiful on March 6 at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre (124 West 43rd Street).

Broadway's BEAUTIFUL Holds National Open Casting Calls, Beginning Today

Producers Paul Blake and Sony/ATV Music Publishing announced today that they will be holding a nationwide open casting call for the most sought-after role on Broadway, the title role in Beautiful -The Carole King Musical, about the early life and career of the legendary and groundbreaking singer/songwriter. The show's casting directors will hold an open call for 'Carole King' at New York City's Ripley Grier Studios (520 Eighth Avenue) today, January 16, 2015 and will also search nationally for Caroles and other cast members for the Broadway, touring and international productions of the smash hit musical.

HIGH SCHOOL DRAMA: Hume-Fogg's Jessie Gholson

This week we introduce the lovely and graceful Jessie Gholson, a 17-year-old senior at Hume-Fogg Academic High School. She recently completed a run in the school's fall production of The King and I, playing the leading role of Anna Leonowens. Her previous roles at HFA include Amber Von Tussle in Hairspray and a Kit Kat Girl in Cabaret. Jessie is also a member of The Blue Notes show choir for the third consecutive year.

Riverside Theatre to Present UNDERNEATH THE LINTEL

Riverside Theatre's 2014-2015 season continues with the award-winning play, Underneath The Lintel. This compelling adventure by Glen Berger is funny, touching and surprising and performs on the Waxlax Stage from January 27 through February 8, 2015.
