EXPO CHICAGO, the international exposition of contemporary and modern art, today announced the ninth edition of EXPO ART WEEK, April 4 – 10, 2022. 

21c Museum Hotel Chicago has announced the debut of its new on-site exhibition, Pop Stars! Popular Culture and Contemporary Art, scheduled to open Monday, March 21.

21c Museum Hotels, a multi-venue contemporary art museum and award-winning hospitality company, and Artadia, a nonprofit grantmaker and nationwide community of visual artists, curators, and patrons, have announced their collaboration on the inaugural 21c Artadia Award. 

In April 2019, 21c Museum Durham and the North Carolina Museum of Art (NCMA) in Raleigh will present South African artist Wim Botha's first solo museum exhibition in the U.S., Wim Botha: Still Life with Discontent. Featuring works that span Botha's career, the cross-institutional exhibition will provide visitors with varied experiences of the artist's work and a new site-specific installation at each venue. Co-curated by 21c Chief Curator and Museum Director Alice Gray Stites and NCMA Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art Jennifer Dasal, Wim Botha: Still Life with Discontent examines Botha's multimedia practice and his use of diverse materials to question and subvert aesthetic conventions of power and value.

21c Museum will present OFF-SPRING: New Generations, a group exhibition opening at 21c Lexington on August 4. Featuring 37 artists, the exhibition explores the development of personal and group identity through religious, cultural, institutional, and domestic rituals. To mark the opening of the exhibition, 21c Lexington will host a reception on August 4 from 6 - 9 p.m. with remarks by 21c Chief Curator and Museum Director Alice Gray Stites, and a special presentation by and artist Stacey Steers, whose work is featured in OFF-SPRING. This event is free and open to the public.

21c Museum Hotels announced today that it will open its newest location on July 17, 2018 in Kansas City, Missouri — a revitalization of the historic Savoy Hotel and Grill. Refuge, an interdisciplinary exhibition exploring contemporary migration, and LIMITLESS, a collection of site-specific commissions in direct dialogue with the location's history and architecture, will premiere at 21c Museum Hotel Kansas City. Marking the eighth location for North America's only multi-venue museum dedicated to collecting and exhibiting art of the 21st century, 21c Museum Hotel Kansas City will bring a new cultural resource to the City's vibrant art scene.

Opening on Thursday, April 26 with a special lecture by featured artist Fahamu Pecou, Pop Stars! Popular Culture and Contemporary Art demonstrates the dominance of the popular as today's ubiquitous culture and illuminates the intersection of the sacred and the secular in multimedia depictions of who and what we worship today.

21c Museum Hotels has announced a major multimedia exhibition exploring the role of costuming, iconography, and performance in constructing Identity and confronting history. With over 35 participating artists representing 22 nationalities, Dress Up, Speak Up delivers a global investigation of these concepts, while reconfiguring, reimagining, and reconstituting history to explore the legacy of European colonialism.

Each year Art Basel hosts its Conversations and Salon series of discussions and talks on a range of subjects, including the collection and exhibition of art, understanding art from a geographical and historical perspective, and timely topics concerning the contemporary art scene. Artists, gallerists, art historians, curators, museum directors, critics, and collectors participate in panel discussions, book signings, and interviews.
