Vanessa Leuck Biography

Vanessa is a New York City-based costume designer who, after receiving a BFA in Fashion Design from Savannah College of Art and Design, has been working in the field since her graduate training at Virginia Commonwealth University. Immediately after receiving her MFA in Costume Design she took an internship at Walt Disney World as a sketch artist and costume designer for its theme parks and resorts. After that beneficial experience she moved to New York and started her career in the city as a costume designer and associate designer.

She is currently the Costume Designer for the Off-Broadway, first class regional and licensed productions of DISENCHANTED! A New Musical, she is designing for Capital Repertory Theatre, two new shows at the New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) and recently worked as the Associate Costume Designer for DISNEY ON ICE: FROZEN.

Ms. Leuck has previously designed for Disney on Ice, Off-Broadway, at several regional theaters and colleges, as well as with professional dance companies. In addition to her design work she has assisted on several large-scale productions including THE LITTLE MERMAID (Broadway), RINGLING BROTHERS BARNUM AND BAILEY CIRCUS (five productions), DISNEY LIVE, and DISNEY ON ICE. Regional experiences include productions with The Philadelphia Theater Company, American Music Theatre, Sierra Repertory Theatre, The Fireside Theater, Arundel Barn Playhouse and more.

Ms. Leuck believes that communication, research, color theory, and character driven choices are the foundation of a solid overall design. Her design work combines her hands-on experience with fashion design knowledge, attention to detail, and love for the art of storytelling.
