Flamenco Singer Miguel Poveda in Concert at NYU Skirball

In celebration of its 25th anniversary, King Juan Carlos I of Spain Center (KJCC) has joined forces with NYU Skirball and the Flamenco Festival New York to present a special performance of superstar flamenco singer Miguel Poveda on Thursday, April 7 and Friday, April 8 at 7:30 p.m. Considered a musical genius in his native Spain, superstar Miguel Povedas nuanced and soulful voice is unrivaled in the world of flamenco. Possessing a strong technique and a charismatic stage presence, his concerts are truly inspiring musical events. For his long-awaited NYC solo debut, he takes the audience on a tour of the traditional musical forms of flamenco, from malagueas and alegras to seguirillas and soles. At NYU Skirball, he will be accompanied on stage by six internationally acclaimed artists: Jess Guerrero (guitar), Miguel Soto Pea El Londro (voice and palmas), Jos Carlos Grilo El Grilo(voice and palmas), Paquito Gonzlez (percussion), Joan Amargs (piano), as well as dancer Antonio Molina El Choro.This special event will celebrate our 25 years of creative programming that foregrounds the history, politics, languages, art, and cultures of Spain and the Spanish-speaking world.Miguel Poveda joins his own sound with the musical diversity of the traditional roots of flamenco. In this journey through the universe of Poveda, we discover through his latest songs his love for flamenco, poetry, and Andalusian folk music.
