COME TO THE FUN HOME!
Columbia Musical Theatre Society Presents FUN HOME, composed by Tony Winner Jeanine Tesori (Barnard College, Columbia University Class of 1983)
Fun Home, the 2015 Tony Award-Winning Best Musical by Jeanine Tesori (Music) and Lisa Kron (Book and Lyrics), tells the true story of Alison Bechdel and is based on her graphic memoir by the same title. The story concerns Bechdel's discovery of her own lesbian sexuality, her relationship with her closeted gay father, and her attempts to unlock the family mysteries surrounding his life. The musical is told in a series of non-linear vignettes, featuring Alison at three stages of her life, connected by present-day Alison as she works to construct her memoir.
Special Thanks to Jeanine Tesori (BC '83) for guiding us through this process. You have been so kind in sharing your stories, answering our questions, and entering our space with the most joy and enthusiasm. We feel so grateful to perform for you and it's been an absolute honor to bring this story, and your incredible music to life.
This production runs approximately 90 minutes with no intermission.
