Rattlestick Playwrights Theater Extends HORSEDREAMS Thru 12/17

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater announced today that its production of HORSEDREAMS, by Dael Orlandersmith, will play four (4) additional performances (through December 17th). Performances began Wednesday, November 9th and the show officially opened on Thursday, November 17th. Originally scheduled to run through Sunday, December 11th, HORSEDREAMS will now play through Saturday, December 17th at Rattlestick Theater (224 Waverly Place – off Seventh Avenue South, between Perry & West 11th Streets).

With HORSEDREAMS, Dael Orlandersmith has written a heartbreaking play that explores the breakdown of the family unit as a result of addiction. After his wife, Desiree, dies of an accidental overdose, Loman faces the harsh reality of raising their son, Luka, alone.

Directed by Gordon Edelstein, the cast includes Roxanna Hope (Frost/Nixon, Boeing Boeing), Michael Laurence (Talk Radio, Desire Under the Elms), Dael Orlandersmith (Beauty’s Daughter, Yellowman) and Matthew Schechter (Mary Poppins, Elf).

The creative team features Takeshi Kata (scenic design), Kaye Voyce (costume design), Marcus Doshi (lighting design), and Ryan Rumery (sound design). Sunneva Stapleton is Production Stage Manager and Andrew Slater is Assistant Stage Manager.

The additional performances are: Wednesday, December 14th, Thursday, December 15th, Friday, December 16th and Saturday, December 17th at 8pm. There will be no performance on Monday, December 12th. The regular performance schedule is: Monday, Wednesday – Saturday at 8pm, Sunday at 3pm. Tickets are $55 and are available through TicketCentral.com/212- 279-4200.
