Theater Mitu to Bring New DEATH OF A SALESMAN to BAM This July

Theater Mitu will present a new production of DEATH OF A SALESMAN.

Written by Arthur Miller and directed by Rubén Polendo, DEATH OF A SALESMAN begins performances at the Fishman Space at BAM Fisher (321 Ashland Place, Brooklyn, NY 11217) on Friday, July 14, for a limited run through Sunday, July 23, 2017.

Held hostage by their past, a family grapples with failure, worth, and a world closing in around them. In this hyper-theatrical production, human beings become objects, music carries the memory of days long gone, and a life is reduced to a mortgage. Theater Mitu's staging of Arthur Miller's DEATH OF A SALESMAN explores a landscape of unrealized hopes and asks what happens when you are written out of the American Dream.

The cast will feature Justin Nestor (Hamlet/UR-Hamlet), Kayla Asbell (The Lily's Revenge), Corey Sullivan (Take What is Yours), Denis Butkus (Juárez) and Attilio Rigotti (Hamlet/UR-Hamlet).

The production will feature original music by Ellen Reid in collaboration with Ada Westfall; set design by Kate Ashton and Rubén Polendo; costume design by Candida K. Nichols; lighting design by Kate Ashton; sound design by Alex Hawthorn; mask design by Lori Petermann; object design by Scott Spahr; dramaturgy by Chris Mills. Scott Spahr will serve as associate director.

The production will feature the voices of Bryce Dallas Howard, Jenni-Lynn Brick, Ryan West, Ben Fox, Aysan Celik, Nathan Baesel, Mark D. Schultz, Jason Lew, Ada Westfall, Jenny Donoghue. The original performance style and approach was developed with and by the following actors: Justin Nestor, Emily Davis, Dylan Dawson, Nathan Elam, Nikki Calonge. Additional performers contributing to the development of the piece include Ryan Conarro, Julianna Bloodgood, Peggy Trecker White, Nolan Funk and Máté Bede-Fasekas.

The performance schedule for Theater Mitu's DEATH OF A SALESMAN is as follows: Wednesday-Saturday at 8pm; Sunday at 5pm. This event is presented by Theater Mitu.
