The New Victory Theater Presents BOING! Beginning December 7

Bursting with holiday spirit, Boing! is a dance-theater work for kids ages 2-5, co-created by Travelling Light Theatre Company and Bristol Old Vic. Recipient of a 2017 OFFIE (Off-West End) Award for Best Production for Children and Young People, Boing!, directed by Olivier Award-nominated Sally Cookson (Bristol Old Vic, National Theatre's Jane Eyre and Peter Pan), combines comedy, acrobatics and breakdance to dazzling effect, perfectly capturing the delirious excitement of waiting for Santa to arrive on one of the most magical nights of the year. Laugh along with brothers Joêl and Wilkie as they engage in silly sibling shenanigans. Brush your teeth, grab your teddy bear and join in the giddy bedtime fun at The Duke on 42nd Street from December 7-23, 2018!

Travelling Light Theatre Company specializes in creating moving stories, told with exquisite skill, sensitivity and warmth for young audiences and their families. Featuring stripped-back sets and costumes, original music, song and movement, their productions are inventive and playful, exploring big themes and ideas with a lightness of touch and a depth of feeling which resonates with adults and children alike.

Travelling Light have been touring their outstanding productions to schools, theaters and festivals around the UK and internationally for over 30 years. Alongside their well-loved tours, the company also run an extensive program of education and development projects created for and with young people from their home in Bristol, UK, engaging young people from all backgrounds in vibrant, hands-on creative opportunities which inspire their thinking, engage their emotions and fire their imaginations. Created in 2010, Boing! is a pioneering production in presenting breakdance to very young children.

Bristol Old Vic is the longest continuously running theater in the UK, and celebrated its 250th anniversary in 2016. The historic playhouse aims to inspire audiences with its own original productions, both at home and on tour, whilst nurturing the next generation of artists, whether that be through their 350-strong Young Company, their many outreach and education projects or their trailblazing artist development program, Bristol Ferment. They use their funding to support experimentation and innovation, to allow access to their program for people who would not otherwise encounter it, or be able to afford it, and to keep their extraordinary heritage alive and animated. On September 24, 2018, Bristol Old Vic completed its two-year multi-million-pound redevelopment project, which transformed its front of house space into a warm and welcoming public building for all of Bristol to enjoy, created a new studio theater and opened up its unique theatrical heritage to the public for the first time.

Boing! is directed by Sally Cookson, featuring performers Joêl Daniel, Wilkie Branson and Will Pegna. Creative team: Alex Vann (Composer), Katie Sykes (Designer), Tim Streader (Lighting Designer), Mike Akers (Dramaturg), Chris Pirie (Puppetry Director), Heidi Vaughan (Producer) and Jo Woodcock (Production Manager). Choreographed by Joêl Daniel and Wilkie Branson.
