Talk-backs Begin For THREE MEN ON A HORSE

TACT/The Actors Company Theatre (Scott Alan Evans, Cynthia Harris and Simon Jones, C0-Artistic Directors), the critically-acclaimed company dedicated to presenting neglected or rarely produced plays of literary merit, have announced a post-performance discussion for its production of Three Men on a Horse, by John Cecil Holm and George Abbott, which begins performances tonight.

In addition to talk-backs with the director and cast following every Sunday matinee performance of Three Men on a Horse, legendary horse track announcer Dave Johnson, whose renowned voice can be heard in the production, will share his expertise on the history of the "sport of kings" and its impact on our culture following the Friday, April 1st performance.

The talk-backs are free with the purchase of a ticket to Three Men on a Horse. For those who have already seen the show but would like to attend one of these events, please call the TACT office at (212)645-8228 to make a reservation. Seating is limited and subject to availability.

Performances of Three Men on a Horse begin at The Beckett Theatre (410 West 42nd Street - between 9th & 10th Avenues) tonight, Monday, March 14th, 2011. Opening night is Thursday, March 24th at 7:30 pm. Performances will continue through Sunday, April 16th.

Three Men on a Horse will have the following performance schedule: Monday and Wednesday - Friday at 7:30pm; Saturday at 2pm & 8pm; Sunday at 3pm. Tickets are $36.25 - $56.25 and are available 24/7 through Telecharge (212) 239-6200/www.telecharge.com.

Biography

Dave Johnson has been a working member of the Thoroughbred and Standardbred horseracing industry for more than forty years. Starting in 1965 at Cahokia Downs and Fairmount Park in Southern Illinois, Johnson has been track announcer, journalist, television and radio producer and broadcaster. In the early 1970s, Johnson was teamed with Stan Bergstein for a groundbreaking, award-winning and popular television series from Yonkers and Roosevelt Raceway in New York on Super Station WOR-TV, bringing harness racing to a nationwide audience long before cable television. For a quarter century, Dave was the "Voice of The Triple Crown" for "ABC Sports." When those races moved to NBC television, Dave moved to radio. He has been a member of the broadcasting teams for Premiere Radio, Westwood One and Clear Channel, calling The Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes for national radio audiences for more than 10 years. Dave is now paired with Bill Finley of The New York Times, for the talk and interview program "Down the Stretch," broadcast every Saturday morning on Sirius-XM Satellite Radio. In addition, they present several "Race of the Week" broadcasts each year. Their coverage of 2005 The Breeders' Cup earned them the prestigious "Eclipse Award" from The National Thoroughbred Racing Association. Over the years, Johnson has served as track announcer for Hialeah, Cahokia Downs, Fairmount Park, Aqueduct, Belmont Park, Saratoga, Marlboro, Santa Anita and The Meadowlands. His voice can be heard on hundreds of national commercials, and his race calls are a staple of Hollywood movies from Phar Lap to The Longshot. In 2007, ABC/ESPN released the movie, "Ruffian," in which Dave recreated his race calls of the great filly. You are also likely to hear Dave's race calls on all major soap operas and sitcom re-runs like "Ed," "Fantasy Island," "Twilight Zone," "Magnum P. I.," "Different Strokes," "Highway to Heaven" and "Tales of The Darkside." Dave's voice made its' Broadway debut in the 1993 production of Three Men on a Horse with Tony Randall and Jack Klugman. Dave is a 1966 American History graduate of Southern Illinois University, and now lives in New York City.
