THE BELLE OF AMHERST Returns For Limited Run

THE BELLE OF AMHERST RETURNS TO THE STAGE ON FEBRUARY 26, 2019 to the American Theatre of Actors 314 West 54th Street, and will star, world renowned actress, JANE CULLEY in the title role of Emily Dickinson. In her Amherst, Massachusetts home, the reclusive nineteenth-century poet Emily Dickinson recollects her past through her work, her diaries and letters, and a few encounters with significant people in her life. William Luce's classic play shows both the pain and joy of Dickinson's secluded life. Originally performed in 1976, directed by Charles Nelson Reilly and starring Julie Harris. The Belle of Amherst takes place through the current and past experiences of Emily Dickinson's life, 1830-1886 and is set in her home in Amherst Massachusetts.

The upcoming performance by JANE CULLEY will show many talents where Jane will be performing fifteen different characters including Emily Dickinson. THE BELLE OF AMHERST is a one woman show that shows incredible talent of how strong a woman can be, to portray one of the worlds most beloved female poets. THE BELLE OF AMHERST originally won the 1976 Tony Award for Best Actress in a play (Julie Harris).

JANE CULLEY is known for her work at The American Theatre of Actors 314 West 54th Street, where she has performed countless Shakespeare plays including her notable performance as Lady Macbeth in William Shakespeare's "Macbeth" where reviewers compared JANE CULLEY to Judith Anderson's notable performance. JANE CULLEY was also featured at The Public Theater alongside Raul Julia in Macbeth in which she was seen as the first witch and the nurse. Noted for her performance in the film "Pate" in which Jane was nominated and won Best Actress from NY Magazine. She was also featured in "Johnny Montana". The Belle of Amherst is being directed by Off-Broadway director, STEPHEN S MILLER, known for his direction of "The Cover of Life" by R. T. Robinson (Off-Broadway) and "Love is a Bad Neighborhood" by Francine Witte (Off-Broadway). Stephen is also the stage manager of such shows as "The Cherry Orchard" by Anton Chekhov, William Shakespeare's "King John", "Blood Boundary" by Vicki Mooney, "The Proposal" by Anton Chekhov, "The Stronger" by August Strindberg. Stephen has also produced many shows Off-Broadway including "Siren's Den - A New Rock Musical" by Rori Nogee. THE BELLE OF AMHERST  will have a limited run at The American Theatre of Actors 314 West 54th Street, in the Sargent Theatre from February 26-March 3, 2019.
