The Drama Desk Nominated Off-Broadway company Marvell Repertory Theatre, New York's only professional theatre - and one of only a handful in the entire nation - devoted exclusively to producing new and enduring works in rotating repertory, will present Sophocles' classic Greek tragedy ANTIGONE directed by Marvell Rep Artistic Director Lenny Leibowitz in repertory with the world premiere of MOMMALOGUES by Sharon Lee Glassman and Gretchen Klinedinst Furst and directed by William Sanders, now thorugh June 2nd at the TBG Theatre (312 West 36th street, 3rd Floor) in Manhattan. BroadwayWorld has a first look at both productions below!

In Sophocles' ANTIGONE, a new king, desperate to establish order in a city devastated by civil war, orders that the body of the man who launched the attack be left to rot in the streets on penalty of death. An outraged sister, consumed with grief, risks her own life to give her brother proper burial rites. In this monumental collision of wills, love is every bit as dangerous a force as war.

This production of ANTIGONE will invoke the classic casting convention of Sophocles' time, having three actors play all of the major roles, supported by a two-person Chorus. The cast of ANTIGONE will feature Bonnie Fraser as Antigone, Haimon and Tiresias (Marvell Rep's "Flirtation," "Phantom the Las Vegas Spectacular"); KC Wright as Ismene, The Sentry, The Little Boy and the Messenger (Boardwalk Empire); Kevin Gilmartin as Kreon (Marvell Rep's "Night Games" and "Professor Bernhardi"); Geddeth Smith as the Chorus Leader (last seen on Broadway in "Waiting in the Wings"); and Peter Judd as the other member of the Chorus ("An Ideal Husband," "The Cherry Orchard").

In the style of "The Vagina Monologues" and "Love, Loss, and What I Wore" MOMMALOGUES is a warm and emotionally charged celebration of the relationship between mothers and daughters as four actresses deliver monologues reflecting a wide range of experiences of mothering.

Directed by William Sanders and Associate Director Deann Halper, the cast of MOMMALOGUES includes Elizabeth Stahlmann (Marvell Rep's "God of Vengeance," The Acting Company's "As You Like It"); Claire Duncan (Marvell Rep's Drama Desk Award nominated "The Threepenny Opera," "Celebration of Life" at Soho Playhouse); Lisa Riegel ("Canary Yellow"), and Sheila Stasack ("The Widowing of Mrs. Holroyd").

The design team for both ANTIGONE and MOMMALOGUES will be Kenichi Takahashi (scenic designer) Sarah Thea Swafford (costume designer) and Michael Gottlieb (lighting designer).

Under the direction of Artistic Director Lenny Leibowitz and Managing Director Amy Estes Marvell Repertory Theatre was founded in 2010 with the intention of giving New York theatre actors and audiences the kind of full-immersion theatre experience that only rotating rep can provide. Past Marvell Rep shows include: a workshop production of Ingmar Bergman's "Nora," "In the Shadow of the Glen," "Blood Wedding," Joseph C. Landis' translation of "The Dybbuk," the Drama Desk Nominated production of "The Threepenny Opera" (translated by Michael Feingold), the NY premiere of Arthur Schnitzler's "Professor Bernhardi," "Spring's Awakening," "God of Vengeance," "Flirtation," and "Night Games."

Scheduled through June 2nd ANTIGONE and MOMMALOGUES will run in rep Tuesdays at 8pm; Wednesdays at 11am, 3pm and 8pm; Thursdays at 8pm; Fridays at 11am and 8pm; Saturdays at 3pm and 8pm; and Sunday, May 26 at 8pm and Sunday, June 2 at 3pm at TBG Theatre (312 West 36th street, 3rd Floor) in Manhattan.
