New Plays by Ives, Washburn, Still and More Set for Red Bull Theater's 4th Annual SHORT NEW PLAY FESTIVAL, 7/14
On Monday July 14 at 7:30pm, Red Bull Theater will host its 4th Annual SHORT NEW PLAY FESTIVAL, featuring new plays by David Ives, Anne Washburn, Will Kenton, Tabia Lau, Bridgette Dutta Portman, Lynn Rosen, Tom Rowan and James Still.
Directed by May Adrales and Evan Yionoulis, the festival will feature new works of heightened language and classical themes from today's hottest writers.
Chosen from over 300 submissions, these plays are the creme de la creme of new writing for the classical theater. Inspired this year by the theme "Ridiculous/Sublime" these fabulous writers have conjured a wildly diverse group of tales ranging from a school room in Ancient Rome, to an 18th century carnivale, to a modern day Adam and Eve in the Far Rockaways. There is a revenge tragedy of a divorce, an altercation aboard the Pequod, and a particularly sexy pair of skinny jeans... This is inspiring new playwrighting, Red Bull Theater style.
