NY Philharmonic Ensembles To Perform at Merkin Concert Hall

The New York Philharmonic Ensembles, composed of Musicians from the Orchestra, will give its fifth performance of the 2009-10 season on Sunday, March 14, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. at Merkin Concert Hall. The program will feature Elliott Carter's Au Quai; Rand Steiger's Trio in Memoriam; Britten's Phantasy Quartet; Stuart Balcomb's American Trilogy; and Schumann's String Quartet No. 1, Op. 41.

The musicians will be Kuan-Cheng Lu, Fiona Simon, and Na Sun, violins; Dawn Hannay, Peter Kenote, and Judith Nelson, violas; Sumire Kudo and Wei Yu, cellos; Robert Langevin, flute; Sherry Sylar, oboe; Mark Nuccio, clarinet; Kim Laskowski and Judith LeClair, bassoons; Erik Ralske, horn; Daniel Druckman, percussion; and Steven Beck*, piano.

Since 1984 the Philharmonic Ensembles series has presented diverse programming of both classical masterpieces and modern compositions. Ensembles concerts are also offered on the Orchestra's international and domestic tours, on separate chamber music tours, and at locations throughout New York City.
