NEWSICAL: The Musical Returns Off Broadway With Christine Pedi, Previews 11/24

By:

No one in the news is safe! The Drama Desk nominated NEWSical the Musical is back lampooning current events, headlines, newsmakers, celebrities, and politicians. With songs and material being updated on a regular basis, composer-lyricist Rick Crom's topical musical comedy is an ever-evolving mockery of all the news that is fit to spoof!

NEWSical originally played 215 performances in 2004 and had extended runs in Provincetown, Denver, and returned to New York with John Tartaglia in 2005. It received two Drama Desk nominations for Best Revue and Best Lyrics. The new production set is to begin previews on Tuesday, Nov 24th will feature all new material, new direction, and a new cast including Drama Desk nominee and Forbidden Broadway alumni Christine Pedi. Additional casting will be announced shortly.

Producers Tom D'Angora (Broadway Diva Christmas, Naked Boys Singing!, Divas I've Done) and Fred M. Caruso (I Love You Because, The Big Gay Musical) are ecstatic to announce the return of the show and the addition of Christine Pedi to the cast. Pedi is most known to New York audiences for her gift of impressions with her long association with Forbidden Broadway. She has appeared on Broadway with Martin Short in Little Me and most recently in Talk Radio. She can be heard hosting "On Broadway" and "Dueling Divas" with Seth Rudetsky on Sirius Satellite Radio. The show's ever busy writer Rick Crom has appeared on Broadway in Urinetown, Footloose, and The Goodbye Girl and he received a Drama Desk nomination for his work on NEWSical.

NEWSical the Musical is set to begin previews on Tuesday, November 24th with a December 9th opening night at The 47th Street Theatre. The 47th Street Theatre is located at 304 W 47th Street, off of 8th Ave.

Show schedule, ticket information, additional casting, and creative team will be announced shortly.
