Like the shards of light reflected off a mirror ball, in Welcome to La Misa, Baby, Migguel Anggelo swirls through a gallery of characters found in the most sacred of places in queer culture: The Gay Disco. Whether looking for love, sex, friends, drugs, freedom of expression, or a way to escape their mother, Welcome to La Misa, Baby delves into the Latino immigrant experience of what it means to be gay in America today with both humor and poignancy in equal measure. Anggelo's one-man community of revelers sing, dance, go-go, and lip-sync for their lives in a quest for what beats in the queer heart of the Latino-American tribe. Migguel is delighted to be creating this new work with long time collaborators Obie Award-winning Writer and Director, David Drake and Musical Director, Mau Quiros.

Migguel Anggelo is breaking barriers on the American stage, creating unique works that are reflective of the multicultural, multi-lingual, changing demographics of our country and times. The Brooklyn based, Venezuelan born artist began his career at 13 as Pinocchio in a South American touring production of the Broadway musical. He trained for a dozen years in classical ballet, studied voice at the Conservatory of Music in Cologne, Germany, has written music throughout all of his journeys as an immigrant in several countries, and has released two albums, the most recent being, La Casa Azul(co-written/produced by musical director, Mau Quiros and mixed by Grammy Award-winner Felipe Tichauer).

In addition to performing on many of the world's greatest stages, Migguel performs regularly at Joe's Pub at The Public Theater in New York City. He has most recently been seen in Another Son of Venezuela, which he developed with Quiros and Obie Award winner David Drake. Previous shows created for Joe's Pub were I, Inmigrante and Between Dreams. Anggelo, Drake, and Quiros were recently awarded a theater residency at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia where they developed Another Son of Venezuela. This past summer, Migguel Anggelo and the Immigrants performed a ten city concert tour of Russia as a cultural attaché under the auspices of the U.S. Department of State.
