Meredith Vieira, of the TODAY show and WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE, is producing the national tour of the hit Off-Broadway solo show LIFE IN A MARITAL INSTITUTION written & performed by James Braly.  Her Production Company, Meredith Vieira Productions, is presenting it. 
 
It plays its first date in South Orange, NJ at the South Orange Performing Arts Center on December 10, 2010 with more dates to be announced soon.
 
It is Meredith's first time producing theatre.
 
LIFE IN A MARITAL INSTITUTION premiered at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, then had a sold-out run at 59E59 Theaters in New York City before transferring Off-Broadway to critical raves at the Soho Playhouse.  The New York Times called it "Never less than excellent," TimeOut New York awarded it "...Four stars," and Variety reviewed it as "Gaspingly funny."  It has been featured on "This American Life" and "The Moth Radio Hour". 
 
Hal Brooks (Nilaja Sun's No Child) directs it. 
 
Meredith Vieira Productions is a Production Company launched in late 2008 by Meredith Vieira and Amy Rapp.  Company is developing and producing a diverse slate of projects for film, tv, and theatre, and recently wrapped production on indie feature RETURN, written & directed by Liza Johnson, and starring Linda Cardellini, Michael Shannon, and John Slattery.
 
In LIFE IN A MARITAL INSTITUTION, renowned monologuist James Braly tells the darkly funny tale of his 20 years of monogamy in one terrifying hour.
