Odyssey Productions presents a limited engagement of William Wycherley's 1675 Restoration Comedy The Country Wife, from July 9th to July 18th at the Chernuchin Theatre. The production will star Obie Award-Winner Meg MacCary (What Then at the Ohio Theatre), Kyle Minshew (Pinkalicious, Booth! The Musical), and Ron Bopst (‘Tis Pity She's a Whore, Bernadette and the Butcher of Broadway), and will be directed by Bradford Cover (The Pearl Theatre).

Harry Horner has a problem. His reputation as the "Lewdest fellow in town" means he isn't allowed anywhere near London's society women. So, he does what any reasonable man would do: he circulates a rumor that a disastrous case of VD has rendered him a eunuch. News of Horner's misfortune spreads quickly and soon aristocratic husbands are lining up to employ him as their wives' "innocent" chaperone. In brilliant Restoration style, Wycherley takes us along Horner's wild adventure through the drawing rooms of fashionable London; teeming with fops, rakehells, trollops and hypocrites who are all fair game in this tart satire. As much as we would like to think we have evolved since the 17th Century, The Country Wife shows us too easily that the sexual politics of Horner's era have much in common with our own.

Joining MacCary, Minshew, and Bopst in the cast are Victor Barranca, Brent Bateman, Stanley Brode, Kate Bruestle, Matthew Cohn, Olivia Gilliatt, Allison Hirschlag, Allison Layman, Caitlin McMahon, and Adam Patterson.

The creative team for The Country Wife includes Hwiwon Lee (Costume Design - NYTW's Coney Island Avenue), George MacDonald (Composer), Kate Mulley (Dramaturge), and Shelly Rodriguez (Lighting Design). The Country Wife is being produced by Marina McClure.

The Country Wife will run from July 9th to July 18th at the American Theatre of Actors Chernuchin Theatre (314 West 54th Street between 8th and 9th), with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, with matinees on Saturdays and Sundays at 2:30pm. Tickets are $18 and can be bought online at www.TheaterMania.com or by phone at 212-352-3101. Pay-what-you-can tickets are available for Saturday matinees.
