MTC Announces New Board Leadership

Manhattan Theatre Club (Lynne Meadow, Artistic Director; Barry Grove, Executive Producer) announce that David C. Hodgson, Managing Director of General Atlantic LLC, and head of the board of the Echoing Green Foundation, a provider of fellowship support for non-profit entrepreneurs, has succeeded Peter J. Solomon as Chairman of the Manhattan Theatre Club Board of Directors. Hodgson has been a dedicated MTC board member for more than 15 years, most recently serving as chairman of the MTC Executive Committee.

Hodgson said, "I am excited and honored to become MTC's chairman. Serving on this board, with so many distinguished colleagues and in support of such great art, is enormously gratifying. Peter Solomon has been an outstanding chairman and my aim is to support MTC with the same vigor and commitment. I look forward to working even more closely with Lynne Meadow and Barry Grove to further MTC's mission. "

Meadow and Grove said, "David is a longtime friend and partner to us and to MTC. Not only has he has provided guidance and leadership as chairman of the executive committee, but he has played a major role in advancing MTC's education program. We are thrilled to be working with him."
David takes the reins from Peter J. Solomon who has served as MTC's chairman for 12 years and for more than 75 productions. Solomon is the founder and chairman of the Peter J. Solomon Company and former Deputy Mayor of Economic Policy and Development in New York City under Mayor Edward I. Koch. Solomon's numerous accomplishments as chairman include guiding MTC's $35 million dollar capital campaign to acquire and restore the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.

Meadow and Grove commented, "We are extremely grateful to Peter for all of his years of leadership and are very glad that although he is stepping down as our chairman, he will continue to serve as an active member of the MTC board."
Bethany Millard has been named the new president and chairman of MTC's Executive Committee. In addition to her work on the MTC board, Millard is chairman of the Kaufman Cultural Center and a member of the board of New York Public Radio.

"Bethany has already proven herself a vital force on MTC's board for the last seven years," said Meadow and Grove, "and she has been especially effective chairing our Winter Benefit."
"I look forward to taking over the leadership of the MTC Executive Committee and to deepening my involvement with Lynne, Barry, and David, to continue MTC's vital work producing our season, developing new plays, supporting playwrights and providing theatre education to thousands of individuals."

In addition, W. Gregg Slager, Transaction Advisory Services Partner for Ernst & Young, has been named treasurer of the MTC board.

Meadow and Grove said, "Gregg has provided us with wonderful guidance as chairman of the finance committee and we know he will do a superior job as our new treasurer."

On other institutional staffing news, MTC announces that following an extensive search, Lynne Randall has been named the theatre's new Director of Development. Randall comes to MTC from the New York Philharmonic where she was most recently Director of Corporate Sponsorship and Institutional Giving.

"We are pleased to welcome Lynne Randall to our team," said Meadow and Grove, "and we look forward to working with all of these accomplished individuals in their new roles at MTC."
