'It's a terrible state of affairs to arrive at the close of your life and realise you've nothing to confess ...though, I suppose I committed the greatest sin of all... I refused to be happy'

Woman is dying. Mother to eight children and wife to an unfaithful husband, she is living her final hours with Scarecrow, her alter ego - her closest confident and greatest critic - as death noisily interrupts from the sidelines. Together, the women revisit her life with biting humor and brutal honesty. WOMAN AND SCARECROW is a fierce, passionate, and moving lament for a life half-lived.

Irish Repertory Theatre is proud to present the New York premiere of WOMAN AND SCARECROW by Marina Carr, one of Ireland's most acclaimed living playwrights. Carr is the author of more than 20 published plays, and has won numerous awards, including The Irish Times' playwright award, the E.M. Forster Prize from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and the 2017 Windham Campbell prize. Woman and Scarecrow premiered at The Royal Court Theatre, London, in June 2006. It is Carr's first work to be performed at Irish Repertory Theatre.

The cast of WOMAN AND SCARECROW will feature Stephanie Roth Haberle (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time) as "Woman," Pamela Gray ("The Sinner") as "Scarecrow," Aidan Redmond (The Cripple of Inishmaan) as "Him," and Jill Tanner (The Traveling Lady) as "Aunty Ah."

WOMAN AND SCARECROW will feature set design by Charlie Corcoran (The Seafarer) costume design by Whitney Locher (The Emperor Jones), lighting design by Michael Gottlieb (Three Small Irish Masterpieces), and sound design & original music by Ryan Rumery (Admissions).

The performance schedule for WOMAN AND SCARECROW is as follows: Wednesdays at 3pm and 8pm; Thursdays at 7pm; Fridays at 8pm; Saturdays at 3pm and 8pm; and Sundays at 3pm.

Tickets to WOMAN AND SCARECROW are available for $50. Tickets are on sale now through Irish Rep's box office by calling 212-727-2737, or online at www.irishrep.org.
