FOR ALL MY GIRLS: A Musical Celebrating the 'Everyday Diva', Featuring R&B Singer Monifah, Changes Venue

By: Dec. 09, 2016

Today, Tmapp, in association with CBO Entertainment, announced that the Equity Showcase production of FOR ALL MY GIRLS: A Musical Celebrating the "Everyday Diva," has changed venues. Beginning Friday, December 9, 2016, the musical will play MIST Harlem (www.mistharlem.com), uptown's premiere live performance and special event venue through December 20, 2016.

The previously announced venue, The Poet's Den Theatre, was shut down because of building violations. That closure started a search for a new performance space and led the fledgling production to MIST Harlem. MIST Harlem features a café, bar, and restaurant that theater patrons can take full advantage before and after performances, and receive 10 percent off all purchases.

Tickets for performances of FOR ALL MY GIRLS: A Musical Celebrating the "Everyday Diva" are $18 and are available at www.brownpapertickets.com, by calling 800.838.3006, and at the MIST Harlem Box Office.

FOR ALL MY GIRLS features acclaimed singer/songwriter Monifah (aka Monifah Carter) of TV One's "R & B Divas: Atlanta," Georgia Kate Haege (Mamma Mia! North American National Tour), Gabrielle Lee, who replaces the previously announced April Nixon (Dreamgirls, One Mo' Time, Smokey Joe's Café) and Virginia Woodruff (Gotta Dance, Violet, Leap of Faith, The Color Purple/2005). The ensemble includes Brandon Ellis, Alicia Kee, Mils James, Sara Kennedy, Preston Pujol and Rhianna Radick.

FOR ALL MY GIRLS tells the story of friends LaVerne, Cathy, Lisa and Candice who embark on a highly-anticipated fun-filled girls' night out on the town. But the night takes many unintended turns that lead the women to do some honest soul-searching about themselves, their lives and each other.

With a book, music and lyrics by Tmapp, FOR ALL MY GIRLS features a mix of R & B, Gospel, Rock and Soul music. Composer, orchestrator, and producer Kenny Seymour (Half-Time, Amazing Grace, Memphis, Vietgone) is the musical director. Lacy Darryl Phillips serves as the choreographer. Marishka S. Phillips directs.
