BWW Reviews: THANKSKILLING; In New York at 'Festival of the Offensive'

Casting has been announced for the New York premiere of ThanksKilling the Musical, which begins performances on April 29th as part of the First Annual "Festival of the Offensive" at The Producers' Club, Crown Theatre, 358 W 44th St. in New York City.

Produced by David Eck, in association with Ashley Kate Adams (AKA Studio Productions), performances will continue through May 4th.

The show is also directed by David Eck with choreography by David Rossetti, the cast includes Diana Huey (Miss Saigon - Signature Theatre) as Kristen the Virgin, Brandon Espinoza (Triassic Parq) as Johnny the Jock, Julia Mattison (Godspell) as Ali the Slut, Evan Woltz (ThanksKilling - Balagan Theatre) as Billy the Hick, F. Michael Haynie (Wicked) as Darren the Nerd, Abe Goldfarb (also known as burlesque emcee, Bastard Keith) as Random Guy, Marissa Rosen (My Big Gay Italian Wedding) as Random Girl and Alex Brightman (Big Fish) as Turkie. Additional members of the creative team include Aaron Jodoin as musical director with casting by Daryl Eisenberg.

ThanksKilling, features music by Jeff Thomson (Trails, Jawbreaker, Pump Up the Volume) and lyrics by Jordan Mann (Trails, Jawbreaker) and is adapted from the cult film by Jordan Downey and Kevin Stewart.

Based on the film of the same name, ThanksKilling is about five college kids headed home for Thanksgiving break who cross paths with a homicidal turkey possessed by an ancient Indian curse. Horror and hilarity ensue, as the teens must stop the manic bird before he kills them all.

ThanksKilling the Musical will be presented as an Equity Approved Showcase as part of the 2014 Festival of the Offensive. The Festival of the Offensive (F-OFF) is dedicated to showcasing live performances that otherwise might not be produced because the establishment doesn't have the nerve to produce them. ThanksKillling made its world premiere at the Balagan Theatre in Seattle, WA. Executive Director - Jake Groshong, Artistic Director - Louis Hobson.
