On Sunday, April 19th, guest artists from over 32 Broadway shows are assembling in what has become an annual tradition at The Richard Rodgers School, PS 166. The Manhattan Upper Westside school baring the name of America's greatest lyric composer, Richard Rodgers, annually hosts this one night benefit concert, "Broadway Sings", in support of arts education.

"We are extremely fortunate to have so many guest artists wanting to be a part of it", shares Marc Lovci, who is producing Broadway Sings. When asked why the positive response, Lovci states, "It is an intimate, exciting, energy filled evening of incredible performances. The house is full of huge fans of Broadway, along with kids who may have yet to stepped foot in their first Broadway theater. Also, I believe it attracts such exceptional talent because they all have a personal story of the impact theater arts made in their life growing up. Obviously they are all working professionals, but all recognize and want to champion for kids to be exposed to musical theater, and it's positive impact no matter what they grow up to be."

For guest artists it may also be the school's connection to Richard Rodgers, where he studied and undoubtably graced the stage from age 9 to 14. During his career, Rodgers wrote over 900 songs and scores to 43 Broadway musicals. Guest performer, Christian Dell'Edera, of the National tour of 'A Christmas Story', only a few years ago attended the school. Jeanne lehman on the other hand is a seasoned veteran, having appeared in 7 Broadway shows including the 1998 revival of Rodger's, Sound of Music, as Mother Abbess. Doreen Montalvo, who will be on Broadway this fall in, "On your Feet! The Emelio and Gloria Estefan Story", shared, "When asked to be a part of this I didn't even hesitate! It's an evening of Broadway music, with some amazing Broadway performers, for a great cause. And besides I made my Broadway debut at the Richard Rogers Theatre with 'In The Heights'."

Lovci adds,"The commitment by these artists is humbling. Besides juggling family and life, some traveling in from out of town, and many in rehearsals and current shows. For example, Paula Leggett Chase is jumping on the 1 Train, after jumping out the stage door of Broadway's 'On The Twentieth Century'!"
