Perry Street Theatricals and Lee Menzies Productions Ltd. will present the first New York reading of the play that inspired the award-winning film, BREAKER MORANT by Kenneth G. Ross.

This invitation-only reading, set for Monday, November 8th will be directed by Martin Platt. Featured in the cast will be Brian Murray (President of the Court), Robert Cuccioli (Maj. Bolton), Ray Dooley (Harry ‘Breaker' Morant), and Reed Birney (Maj. Thomas), along with Kelly AuCoin, Brad Bellamy, Sheffield Chastain, Kevin Cristaldi, Richmond Hoxie, Josh Landay, Paul O'Brien, and Gareth Saxe.

Kenneth G. Ross's acclaimed Australian play BREAKER MORANT relates the story of the Boer War (1902) court martial of three Australians in the British Army in South Africa, accused of killing prisoners and civilians. The case and execution of two of the accused caused an uproar in Australia that has never quite died down. A petition for pardons for Morant, and his co-defendants, Handcock and Witton, was presented to Queen Elizabeth II just this past February (2010).

BREAKER MORANT was adapted for the 1980 award-winning hit film co-written by Ross and director Bruce Beresford.

Future productions of BREAKER MORANT are aimed for Broadway and London's West End. Perry Street Theatricals has just produced the hugely successful pre-West End run of Brad Carroll and Peter Sham's Lend Me a Tenor: The Musical. Lee Menzies Ltd currently has Yes, Prime Minister running in the West End.
