BLACK ANGELS OVER TUSKEGEE Moves to The Actors Temple As Of 6/5

Today the producers announced that Layon Gray's acclaimed new play, Black Angels Over Tuskegee, would continue its run at the Actors Temple Theater (339 West 47th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues), beginning June 5th. It is currently at St. Luke's Theatre until Monday May 31st.

Tobias Truvillion ("One Life to Live") joins the cast which also includes Lawrence Saint-Victor (of "Guiding Light"), who is now rotating with Lamman Rucker (Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married?, Why Did I Get Married Too and "Meet the Browns"). Also featured are David Wendell Boykins, Steve Brustein, Thaddeus Daniels, Layon Gray, Melvin Huffnagle, and Thom Scott II.

Based on true events, six men explore their collective struggle with Jim Crow, their intelligence, patriotism, dreams of an inclusive fair society, and brotherhood as they become the first African-American fighter pilots in the U.S. Army Air Forces. Black Angels Over Tuskegee goes beyond the headlines of the popular stories of the Tuskegee Airmen and exposes the men who exhibited the courage to excel in spite of all the overwhelming odds against them.

Tobias Truvillion has appeared on such television shows as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and in April 2006, joined the cast of the long-running soap opera One Life to Live as Vincent Jones. He recently completed production for the film, Blackout with Jeffrey Wright and Zoe Saldana.

Lawrence Saint-Victor starred as Remy Boudreau on daytime TV's longest-running drama "Guiding Light." His stage appearances include Six Degrees of Separation, Night of the Iguana, The Winter's Tale, and he received an Audelco Award for Black Man Rising. His additional TV credits include Ugly Betty, Law & Order: SVU and the History Channel's Honor Deferred.

Lammon Rucker's major role came in 2002 when he assumed the role of attorney T. Marshall Travers on the CBS soap opera As the World Turns, opposite Tamara Tunie. He left the series the following year, and portrayed Garret Williams on ABC's All My Children in 2005. He has starred in a few of Tyler Perry's productions such as a guest role on House of Payne, the film version of Why Did I Get Married? alongside Perry, Janet Jackson and Jill Scott, and a role in the film version of Meet The Browns as Vera's adult son. He currently has a starring role on Perry's second sitcom "Meet the Browns," reprising his role as Will.

In addition to being an official selection of the 2009 National Black Theater Festival, Black Angels Over Tuskegee recently won a 2009 NAACP Award for Best Ensemble and a 2009 Artistic Director Achievement Award for Best Play. It was also presented at the 2009 National Tuskegee Airmen Convention in Las Vegas for over 30 chapters. Original Tuskegee Airmen Ted Lumpkin, President of the Los Angeles Chapter, said, "I love this play. It's real and it reminded me of my times at Tuskegee. [It's] a great show."

Black Angels Over Tuskegee is produced Off-Broadway by The Black Gents, Edmund Gaynes, and The Layon Gray Experience.

The playing schedule at the Actors Temple Theatre will be Monday at 8pm, Tuesday at 7pm, Saturday at 8pm, and Sunday at 7pm. Special matinee performance Saturday June 5th at 2pm (no evening performance that day).
