Amas Presents Free Performances of BURLY-Q! 10/22

Amas Musical Theatre presents two free performances of BURLY-Q! A Gay Burlesque, a show created by Phillip George (co-director of Forbidden Broadway) on Tuesday, October 22 at 7:30pm and Wednesday, October 23 at 6pm at the newly-restored Actors Playhouse, 100 Seventh Avenue South in New York. BURLY-Q! was written by Peter Charles Morris, Phillip George, Ernie Lijoi, Tom Orr and Hector Coris, with music by Fred Barton (pictured), David Caldwell, Brad Ellis, Ethan Fein, Mat Eisenstein, Dick Gallagher and Matt Ward. The production is directed by Phillip George (Forbidden Broadway, SHOUT! The Mod Musical, Whoop-de-doo). "BURLY-Q! is a loving homage to and madcap exploration of a treasure trove of classic burlesque routines, featuring up-to-date sketches and songs presented with a gay twist," says Amas Producing Artistic Director Donna Trinkoff. "With top  bananas and beautiful men, there's something for everyone to enjoy in Burly-Q! And with a comedic director like Phillip George at the helm, you know it's going to be a fun evening."

The cast includes Fred Barton, Andrew Briedis, Michael  Dexter, Mitchell Greenberg, Michael LaMasa, Jay Rogers and Jake Warnecke. The presentations are part of the ongoing Amas Six O'Clock Musical Theatre Lab, a development series for writers, lyricists and composers to mount new musicals, free to the general public.

Amas Musical Theatre is a non-profit, multi-ethnic theatrical organization founded in 1968 by Rosetta LeNoire.
