The Ailey Extension is pleased to offer fans of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and Ailey II a free "Ticket to Dance"-the opportunity to receive a complimentary Ailey Extension class with their ticket stub from any Ailey performance in the nation! The offer is good for one year from the performance date for first time students, and for returning students when purchasing a 10-class card for classes at the Ailey Extension in New York City.

The mission of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater stems from Alvin Ailey's belief that "dance came from the people and should be delivered back to the people." Now, people all across the country who are inspired by the artists of the Ailey company during their 50th Anniversary US Tour to 26 cities can visit New York City and join in the exciting classes at Ailey's home - The Joan Weill Center for Dance. This destination for dance boasts 12 beautiful studios with views of the NYC skyline, and is the nation's largest building dedicated to dance.

The Ailey Extension was launched in April 2005 in conjunction with the opening of the Joan Weill Center for Dance (405 West 55th Street at 9th Avenue). Since its inception, over 23,000 people have taken classes through this program. For a complete Ailey Extension weekly schedule, please click here.

Open to the general public, The Ailey Extension features dance and fitness classes in a wide variety of technique for all levels, including Horton (the modern dance technique featured in Mr. Ailey's classic, Revelations), West African, Ballet, Yoga, Hip Hop and Jazz, underscoring Mr. Ailey's life-long commitment of bringing dance to everyone.

All levels are welcome, including beginners who are encouraged to attend. In the words of our inspirational Artistic Director, Judith Jamison, "If you can get yourself in the door, you can take a class!" The inspiration that the Ailey Company has been sharing on the world's stages for 50 years is felt not only in the theater, but in the classes at Ailey's home.
