59E59 Theaters (Elysabeth Kleinhans, Artistic Director; Peter Tear, Executive Producer) is proud to announce that playwright Lee Blessing will return to 59E59 Theaters with the NYC premiere of WHEN WE GO UPON THE SEA, which will be part of Americas Off Broadway. The InterAct Theatre Company of Philadelphia, where the play is currently receiving its World Premiere, will produce. Directed by Paul Meshejian, WHEN WE GO UPON THE SEA, begins performances on Thursday, June 10 for a limited engagement through Saturday, July 3.

Set in a posh hotel room at The Hague, WHEN WE GO UPON THE SEA imagines former President George W. Bush on the eve of his trial for international war crimes. Tended to by an inscrutable Dutch butler and an alluring masseuse, the President embarks on a long night of drinking, joking and ruminating, taking The Audience through a deep exploration of how we regard our leaders - loving them, fearing them, unintentionally deifying them. WHEN WE GO UPON THE SEA exposes one of the world's most intriguing and influential conflicts: the battle between the elected leader of the free world and a democracy of millions.

59E59 Theaters is located at 59 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison Avenues. Tickets to WHEN WE GO UPON THE SEA are $35 (24.50 for 59E59 Members) and will be on sale beginning May 10 by calling Ticket Central at 212-279-4200 or online at www.ticketcentral.com.
