RAINBOW FISH is the most beautiful fish in all of the ocean, and is different from the other fish. This story tells a wonderful message of friendship and belonging.
AUDITION DATES: Monday, April 12, 2021 from 6pm – 8pm ** Callbacks (if needed) will be Tuesday, April 13, 2021

· Auditions will be held at Artisan Center Theater located at 444 East Pipeline Road, Hurst, TX 76053.
· Rehearsals begin Monday, April 26, 2021 and will generally be Monday – Friday evenings.
· Age Range 8-14
PRODUCTION DATES:
June 5 – July 3, 2021 Performances will be Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12pm, and Saturdays at 10am and 12pm.
AUDITIONS:
· Be prepared to sing 16 bars from a Broadway or Disney song in the style of the show that best displays your vocal ability. RAINBOW FISH is a lighthearted show so keep that in mind when picking a song. Look over the cast descriptions to also help guide your song choice. The director is looking for big and bold characters with a sense of humor.
· No accompanist will be provided, so actors are asked to bring a CD or an electronic device with their accompaniment. No singing a cappella please.
· Actors will also be doing readings from the script, so it is encouraged that everyone auditioning is familiar with the material. Audition sides will be posted by April 5 on the ACT website.
Please bring your conflict information with you to the audition. It is critical that you let Artisan Children’s Theater know all of your conflicts at the auditions. Artisan Children’s Theater will be unable to accept conflicts after casting is done unless they are emergencies.
ABOUT THE SHOW:
With shiny, multi-colored scales, Rainbow Fish is the most beautiful fish in all of the ocean, and the only one of his (or her!) kind. When Rainbow Fish refuses to share his vibrant, shimmering scales, the whole ocean seems to turn against the vain creature. Unhappy that no one adores him anymore, the Rainbow Fish seeks out the wise Octopus, who helps him learn that it’s far better to be admired for being kind than for being beautiful.
ROLES AVAILABLE:
RAINBOW FISH – the sheltered prince. Young, naïve, and self-centered, his self-worth has been defined by his beauty his entire life. Since he has never left the reef where he is famous, his limited worldview has been continually reinforced.
LITTLE FISH – a kid-fish. Unafraid and curious, but also aware that those qualities don’t always add up to positive social interactions. Believes being annoying is an acceptable outcome for getting what you want.
STARFISH – the court jester. A happy, unflappable simpleton.
MS. MINNOW – the teacher. Gentle and guiding.
OCTOPUS – the soothsayer. A sage, handy, cave-dweller who lives far from the coral reef.
PUFFERFISH – the stuffy aristocrat. Style editor for the Coral Chronicle.
HERMIT CRAB – a kid-crab. Part of the school. A happy, unflappable nerd.
SARDINE – a kid-fish. A little sarcastic.
CLOWNFISH – another stuffy aristocrat. Garden Society president annoyed by circus clown remarks.
ENSEMBLE (Fish School) – various kid-fish school classmates
ABOUT THE THEATER:
Artisan Children’s Theater is well known for using children (18 and under) in productions designed to entertain, inspire and educate other children and families. This unique opportunity of children performing for children provides youth of all ages a chance to learn and master performing arts on-stage, in front of live audiences. The enormous success of this inspired program has impacted thousands of children throughout the community and continues to grow each year.
