Melbourne, FL – The King Center for the Performing Arts of Brevard Community College and The Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse will be presenting the first annual Summer Musical Theatre Project June 18 – July 15^th. This is your chance to bring your appetite and desire to participate in a program that will develop your musical theatre arts and new skills learned from this collaboration. The project also includes chat backs with industry guests and educational studies on Rodgers & Hammerstein and the birth of musical theatre.

Calling all students entering 9th grade in the fall of 2012 and currently enrolled high school & recent high school graduates of the 2011-2012 school years who enjoy musical theatre. College freshman including students entering their sophomore year in the fall of 2012 are also eligible to audition. Eligible BCC students attending this project may receive college credit.

Through special arrangements with R & H Theatricals, N.Y, N.Y.and under the direction of Anastacia Hawkins-Smith, this four week project with experienced professionals in a theatrical environment focusing on acting and stage experience, casting, dance, narration, orchestra and behind-the-scene support roles will culminate with three performances of OKLAHOMA! on the King Center stage July 13, 14 & 15.

Auditions will be held the week of June 11, 2012 at the King Center for the Performing Arts. Applicants will be notified of their audition time. If selected into the project, it is the responsibility of the participant to attend all rehearsals, classes and performances.

The application fee (required for audition) is $25. The application fee is non-refundable and will be applied to tuition for selected applicants. For an application and further details, call

Project tuition is $300. Tuition discount for multiple students within the same household may be available. Also, a limited number of full/partial scholarships may be available. Interested parties may request a scholarship application when their audition application is submitted.
