Teatro Dallas

Posted June 24, 2026

AUDITION NOTICE: EVA LUNA

Teatro Dallas is seeking actors for Eva Luna, adapted by Caridad Svich from the novel by Isabel Allende.

Set against a backdrop of political unrest in an unnamed South American country, Eva Luna follows a young woman who survives poverty, displacement, and violence through the power of storytelling. Blending magical realism, music, memory, and ensemble-driven performance, the play explores resilience, migration, gender, identity, censorship, and the communities we create to survive.

Rehearsals begin: Sep. 28th

Run: Nov. 6-22

$1,200 stipend for the show. No travel or housing.

We are seeking actors for the following roles:

Eva Luna
A young Latina storyteller who grows from an orphaned child into a confident artist. Intelligent, imaginative, defiant, funny, and emotionally resilient.

Riad Halabi
A Lebanese immigrant and shopkeeper who becomes a compassionate father figure to Eva. Likely reads as 40s to 60s.

Huberto Naranjo
A charismatic, street-smart revolutionary who becomes Eva’s protector and complicated love interest. Likely reads as 20s to 30s.

Rolf Carle
An Austrian expatriate and photojournalist shaped by war, displacement, and a need to document the truth. Likely reads as 30s to 50s.

Consuelo / Elvira
Consuelo is Eva’s loving and imaginative mother. Elvira is a warm, humorous cook and working-class survivor. Likely reads as 30s to 60s.

La Patrona / La Señora / Zulema
A versatile actor will play several women, including Eva’s domineering elderly employer, a sharp-witted brothel owner, and Riad’s emotionally isolated wife. Strong character acting and range are essential.

Mimi
A transgender or transfeminine cabaret performer, teacher, and mentor to Eva. Glamorous, intelligent, funny, compassionate, and resilient. Singing ability is strongly preferred. Trans women and transfeminine performers are strongly encouraged to submit.

Actors may also portray police officers, workers, protesters, sex workers, townspeople, and other members of the ensemble. Strong movement skills, musical ability, and comfort with theatrical storytelling are a plus.

Actors of all backgrounds and experience levels are encouraged to apply. Please submit your audition materials through the form below:
