NZSO National Youth Orchestra at CBS Canterbury Arena

An historic collaboration which will overflow with youthful talent; the NZSO National Youth Orchestra will join forces with the New Zealand Youth Choir to create an epic programme and a one-off special concert In Christchurch.

These two groups of young musicians, around 130 in total, will perform Michael Tippett’s ‘A Child of Our Time’, one of the 20th-century’s outstanding works. Inspired by the 1938 Kristallnacht pogrom against the Jews in Nazi Germany, the work includes settings of American spirituals which provide a familiar context for this moving secular oratorio.
