BATS Theatre is in the final week of its International Comedy Festival. Hayley Sproull and her piano are currently tuning up in the theatre for the opening of Miss Fletcher Sings the Blues. Also opening this week is WIT returning with their crazy new improvised Western The Last Saloon and the return of 2010 favourites Public Service Announcements with a brand new show satirising all things political. I had a sneak peek at rehearsals last week and (just like in real life) Winston is back.

A mix of verbal jousting, slapstick and romance is set to bring MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING to The Court Theatre's Addington stage from May 19 to June 9. Lisa Chappell (McLeod's Daughters, The Cult) and Roy Snow (Go Girls, Shortland Street) star in one of Shakespeare's most-loved romantic comedies. A cast of 21 actors makes this production the largest staged at The Court's new theatre.

It was announced today that JERSEY BOYS - The Story of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons - has smashed the all-time box office record for a second week of trading by taking in excess of $NZ1.9 million gross, beating previous records by over $NZ500,000. This phenomenal demonstration of support by New Zealanders for this internationally acclaimed musical falls at the same time that JERSEY BOYS notches up its 1,000th performance in Australasia on Thursday 26 April.

JERSEY BOYS opened in New Zealand at The Civic Center in Auckland, NZ on April 10. In this video, the stars of the show talk about the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, how four young men became such an overnight sensation, and how they dealt with problems which they encountered along the way. Hummingbird Coffee Donates $10,000 to The Court Theatre

Hummingbird Coffee has donated $10,000 to The Court Theatre through sales of a special coffee blend created especially as part of the Re:Start project. The boutique roaster, who constructed a cafe in the central city in late October, is selling the "Re:Start" blend through cafes and supermarkets throughout the country, with 30c from each pack sold donated towards The Court's fundraising efforts. To date, over 30,000 units have been sold nationwide.
