Throughout her life, Sojourner Truth came upon injustice and fought it with uncommon clear-sightedness, courage and wit. Today, April 12, at 2:00pm, the Roxy Regional Theatre will celebrate this remarkable woman in Sandra Fenichel Asher's award-winning play A WOMAN CALLED TRUTH.

Combining her actual words with authentic slave songs, spirituals and folk songs of the period, this one-act play chronicles the life of Sojourner Truth from the day she is sold away from her family as a young girl, through her struggle to free herself and her son, to her emergence as a popular and respected figure advocating abolition and women's rights.

Tamiko Robinson as Sojourner Truth is joined by Leslie Greene, Ted Kitterman, Mary McCallum, Matthew Smolko and Shawn Whitsell in bringing to life a figure whose words still reverberate today, over a century later.

Tickets are $15 (adults) and $10 (ages 13 and under) and may be purchased online at www.roxyregionaltheatre.org, by phone at (931)645-7699, or at the theatre during regular box office hours (9am to 2pm, Monday through Friday, and one hour prior to curtain).
