7th Annual Orpheum Star Search Finals Set For 10/17
The finals of the seventh annual Orpheum Star Search will take place at The Orpheum, Oct. 17. Orpheum Star Search promotes regional talent and spotlights local high school and college students, continuing the regions' commitment to music while being mindful of its rich musical heritage.
Ten local finalists representing the entire Mid-South, will perform with live band accompaniment on the Orpheum stage in front of family, friends, fans, and Memphis music insiders. They will vie for over $15,000 in prizes and a chance to perform at the 2010 Jefferson Public Service Awards Dinner in Washington, D.C..
Already considered by local musicians to be a premier opportunity to launch a professional career, Star Search and its new partnership with the Jefferson Awards offers increased exposure and an additional springboard for the winner to solidify his or her place in the entertainment industry. Since 1977, the Jefferson Award program has honored people who, through volunteer service, do extraordinary things for their community, their nation or the environment.
Everyone can help support The Orpheum's commitment to arts education in Memphis schools by cheering on eight of the most talented young people in the region as they compete for the title of Star Search Champion.
