Continu consolidates elements of Sasha Waltz's work from the past ten years. She creates tension between the choreography, music and the visual energy, while, as the title suggests, celebrating the continuity of the perpetual forces of nature. The primary impulses of Continu derive from Sascha Waltz's major projects for museums in 2009 - the artistic inauguration of both David Chipperfield's Neues Museum Berlin and Zaha Hadid's MAXXI in Rome. Employing twenty-four dancers, she has conceived a large-format, archaic choreography. Edgard Varèse's epochal symphonic work Arcana represents the musical core of Continu. It is complemented by compositions from other composers such as Iannis Xenakis and Claude Vivier.
