WORLD PREMIERE
7 FOR DANCERS
Many people will remember Waxtaan in 2007 and Scales of memory (with the New York-based Urban Bush Women) in 2008, two choreographed by Germaine Acogny, wonderfully performed by the dancers of the company Jant-Bi - when a company composed of men only.
The grande dame of African dance is back with two proposals, including Afro-Say, a biting piece of irony, humor and love of Senegalese urban society, but this time performed by the feminine side of the company Jant -Bi, the company Jant-Bi Jigeen. A cleaner view of the customs and daily routines, the paradoxes and contradictions of contemporary African life ...
Afro-Tell is the story of seven Senegalese women who speak of their outlook on society, men, family, immigration, children, religion, love, duty ... nine women full of humor, lucidity, sometimes sad, but also a great optimism ... nine women who share their intimacy, vulnerability and thereby make us part of their strength and their thirst for life.
Afro-Tell is the first piece for women of this Co. Jant-Bi of Senegal, which is known worldwide for his contemporary creations rooted in African dance heritage, often in connection with dances from other cultures, and his dancers fabulous.
After the extraordinary success of Waxtaan, collaboration between Germaine Acogny and Patrick is renewed. With dancers trained at the Ecole des Sables, the mother-son duo makes a gesture and a unique and unforgettable poetry. While Africa dancing, but she knows how to be serious, sassy, funny, especially when women speak out!
