Musical Theatre Guild’s SHENANDOAH Commemorates 150th Anniversary of American Civil War, 6/17

By:

The Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza Foundation presents Musical Theatre Guild's SHENANDOAH in the Janet & Ray Scherr Forum Theatre at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 17, 2012. The opening performance will take place on the week prior (Monday, June 11, 2012) at the historic Alex Theatre in Glendale.

The award-winning Musical Theatre Guild, a company of professional performers who present concert-staged readings of seldom seen musicals, presents Shenandoah, a production commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the American Civil War. With a passionate Country & Western score, Shenandoah is the rousing, moving story of Charlie Anderson, a Southern pacifist who is forced to take action when his youngest son is taken prisoner during the war. The show was launched in 1975 at Goodspeed Opera House and transferred to Broadway; Shenandoah ran for 1,050 thrilling performances and won best book of a musical and best actor Tony® Awards, solidifying John Cullum's leading man status.

Shenandoah will be directed by Calvin Remsberg with choreography by Karen Nowicki and musical direction by Alby Potts. Carol Kline serves as MTG production coordinator.

Single tickets are $40 with group discounts available. Tickets are available from Ticketmaster (805-583-8700 or www.ticketmaster.com) or the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza Box Office, located at 2100 Thousand Oaks Boulevard. For information call 805-449-ARTS (2787) or visit www.civicartsplaza.com.
