EDMT Hosts Free Program To Introduce Young People To Performing Arts

EDMT is pleased to continue this exciting program designed specifically for young people who have never participated in a theater production. Please share this exciting opportunity with any friends or family you feel may benefit from this unique program.

Last fall, El Dorado Musical Theatre launched Discovering Musical Theater, a one-of-a-kind community outreach program for youth between the ages of 6-20 in the greater Sacramento area.

The program continues this spring with participants able to attend our Spring Show, "Anything Goes" along with a parent or guardian on Saturday, April 16th at 7PM. The performance will take place at the new, state-of-the-art Three Stages performing arts center at Folsom Lake College. Afterward, they will be given a back stage tour where they will see what happens "behind the scenes."

The next day, Sunday, April 16th, they will participate in a four-hour workshop where they will learn about singing, acting, and dancing on stage, using songs, scenes and steps from the show they have just seen. They will learn about the auditioning process and get tips on how to do their best. This will help them whether they are auditioning at school, at church, or at a theater company such as EDMT.

Best of all, this program is 100% free to the participant. Registration will take place in April. Space in this cycle is limited to the first 150 eligible applicants. This program is made possible by a grant from the James Irvine Foundation.
