T2 Announces 2010/11 Adult Acting Classes

TheatreSquared has announced its 2010/11 lineup of adult acting classes for participants aged 18 and older. Experienced professionals will lead acting and comedy improvisation classes for all skill levels. Whether aspiring to a career in performance or seeking to add new leadership and creative skills to their repertoire, participants of all backgrounds will acquire skills ranging from team building, comedic fundamentals, objectives, tactics, spontaneity, and numerous other creative techniques. Advanced classes will culminate in a performance opportunity at the 2011 Arkansas New Play Fest. Beginning September 27, the announced adult training lineup for the season includes:

BEGINNING ACTING (Ages 18+. $150.)
Location: EJ Ball Building, Suite 440
Dates: 5 week session September 29-October 27, Wednesdays, 6pm-8pm
From the T2 for Education staff: "This class is especially designed for theatre newcomers or for those who have not taken a course in a while and need a refresher. We will explore the basics of acting including objectives, obstacles, tactics, environment, team-work, and stage presence. This class is a wonderful building block for other classes but can also help you in the workplace by giving you public speaking confidence and boosting your creativity."

BEGINNING COMEDY IMPROV (Ages 18+. $150.)
Location: EJ Ball Building, Suite 440
Dates: 5 week session September 27-October 25, Mondays, 6-8pm
From the T2 for Education staff: "This acting class for adults is one of our favorites -- and why not, it's so much fun! In this class, students will explore short-form comedy improvisation games, focusing on exercises in team-building, trust, spontaneity, scene-building, accepting offers and conquering fears. Nothing unleashes the power of creativity like improv! This class is great for aspiring actors, comedians and for people who want to bring the complete power of their own creativity to bear in your profession."

INTERMEDIATE ACTING (Ages 18+. $150.)
Location: EJ Ball Building, Suite 440
Dates: 5 Week session February 9-March 9, Wednesdays, 6-8pm
From the T2 for Education staff: This class offers an exciting next step for students who have completed the fall Beginning Acting class. It's also perfect for anyone who havs previously had acting experience and wants to build scene work skills. Students will work on exploring text and character analysis, working with a partner for scene work and preparing short monologues.

INTERMEDIATE COMEDY IMPROV (Ages 18+. $150.)
Location: EJ Ball Building, Suite 440
Dates: 5 week session February 9-March 9, Mondays, 6-8pm
From the T2 for Education staff: "This class is a wonderful continuation for those students who have completed the beginning comedy improv class. Students will begin to explore long-form improv (known as the Harold structure) as well as continue to hone the basic building blocks of impov such as character, relationship and story arc."

ADVANCED ACTING/PRODUCTION (Ages 18+. $150.)
Location: EJ Ball Building, Suite 440
Dates: 5 week session May 4-June 1, Wednesdays, 6-8pm
"This exciting class allows students who have completed several TheatreSquared adult classes to apply their skills to a new play. Participants in the class will work together with the instructor to prepare for a staged reading presented for the public as part of TheatreSquared's third annual Arkansas New Play Fest held at Walton Arts Center's Nadine Baum Studios."

ADVANCED COMEDY IMPROV (Ages 18+. $150.)
Location EJ Ball Building, Suite 440
Dates: 5 week session May 2 -30, Mondays, 6-8pm
From the T2 for Education staff: "This culmination of the comedy improv track of classes provides a continuation of skill building and a performance opportunity! Students will work together in class on the fundamentals of sketch comedy and will then create teams to enter the 24 Hour Play-Off competition that will be held during the Arkansas New Play Fest at Walton Arts Center's Nadine Baum Studios. During the competition, teams of five will write, rehearse and perform a 10-minute play--all within the course of 24 hours! This class will help build the perfect ensemble for the challenge."

TheatreSquared is currently in production of The 39 Steps, now extended through September 26 as part of the theatre's Fifth Anniversary Season, continuing with Every Christmas Story Ever Told, the World Premiere of Sundown Town, and Reasons to Be Pretty.
